Artist of UNSEEN 2.0 - Ajim Mulla | Sketch Artist
UNSEEN 2.0 is an unconventional form of exhibition which is a digital art exhibition curated by Platform For Artists . This enables artists across the country to participate, showcase their work and connect with like minded people. The entire idea is to broaden the scope of exposure which the artists would probably not get at an offline event. We have sixty diverse artists from across the country who are a part of this one of it's kind art exhibition.
Here is a set of questions team Platform For Artists asked Ajim about his everyday routine, his art interests and more.
Tell us about yourself.
I am an animator and self taught sketch artist based in Pune. Originally I’m from a small village in Satara district of Maharashtra. I have done my graduation in computer science. I have keen interest in arts since my childhood, I used to draw, paint, and sculpt then. But being a bright student and having family pressure I couldn’t pursue art as my career. But choosing animation as my career path brought me closer to art. I love to draw realistic sketches and I am very passionate about learning new techniques in my art medium.
What are your art interests?
I have interest in all kinds of visual arts and sculpting. But being a sketch artist I’m inclined to dry media such as graphite, charcoal etc. I love to make realistic sketches. Sometimes I enjoy doing watercolour paintings too.
What are your views about the current scenario of art in our country?
Today in this digital era concept of art has changed in so many ways. But, still I feel that most of the art works don’t get the recognition they deserve. Most of the art market is restricted to only main cities like Delhi, Mumbai, etc. This market should be expanded beyond these cities and the local artists from small town should get the recognition as well so they could make living out of their art work.
What are you working on currently?
Currently I am working on series of realistic sketches of wildlife for an art exhibition.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
I enjoy doing intricate detailing in my sketches so, If I see such detailed works around me it inspires me to create such work. Also scrolling through various artworks on Instagram and Pinterest inspires me.
Which kind of artists would you be interested to collaborate with?
