Artist of UNSEEN 2.0 - Archita Goyal | Illustrator

UNSEEN 2.0 is an unconventional form of exhibition which is a digital art exhibition curated by Platform For Artists . This enables artists across the country to participate, showcase their work and connect with like minded people. The entire idea is to broaden the scope of exposure which the artists would probably not get at an offline event. We have sixty diverse artists from across the country who are a part of this one of it's kind art exhibition.

Here is a set of questions team Platform For Artists asked Archita about her everyday routine, her art interests and more.

Tell us about yourself.

I am an architect turned Illustrator and I currently own and head ArGo, a label for all things creative. I belong to a city in UP, Meerut. I graduated as an architect from School of Planning & Architecture, New Delhi and then moved to Mumbai to work as an architect. After six months of the first job, a week of disasters happened, where a long term relationship ended, I broke my leg, lost my job and had to go to Meerut for six months to get better. My mother gave me an iPad during bed-rest and I started drawing freehand illustrations on it and soon after opened an online store and came back to Mumbai to work as an illustrator and graphic designer at an ad agency. Three months after, I quit my ad agency job and started freelancing full-time.

In the end, I love the fact that I draw for a living! :)

What are your art interests?

Architecture has always been and will be one of my favorite kind of art. Almost all forms of art interest me, storytelling, poetry, books, food, to name a few.

What are your views about the current scenario of art in our country?

I think this is a good time for both art and artists in our country. More and more different organisations and brands are using art to communicate with their audience. There is a higher rate of interest seen towards the independent artist scene in the public. Social media is also one of the major factors for this I feel.

What are you working on currently?

Nursery Rhyme books. Ice Cream Cup Labels. Relaunch of ArGo. And some personal illustration projects.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

I like taking inspiration from tiny little things in everyday life, especially from scenarios that cannot be explained in a photograph sometimes. I like experimenting as well so I enjoy challenging myself to work with different media and styles, in an attempt to constantly evolve with various design sensibilities and aesthetic.

Which kind of artists would you be interested to collaborate with?

Belonging to an architectural background, I really enjoy working on conceptual designs, resolving complex design issues and giving structural sound to each endeavor. I would love to work with artists who have varied approach for art and design.

What's the first thing you do when you wake up?

Hydrate myself.

Which is the most used app in your phone?

Money Manager.

Which is the one song you can't get out of your head?

Another Love by Tom Odell.

You de-stress by?

Meditating. Reading a book. Going to the beach to watch sunsets.
