Artist of UNSEEN 2.0 - Kanika Narang | Photographer
UNSEEN 2.0 is an unconventional form of exhibition which is a digital art exhibition curated by Platform For Artists . This enables artists across the country to participate, showcase their work and connect with like minded people. The entire idea is to broaden the scope of exposure which the artists would probably not get at an offline event. We have sixty diverse artists from across the country who are a part of this one of it's kind art exhibition.
Here is a set of questions team Platform For Artists asked Kanika about her everyday routine, her art interests and more.
Tell us about yourself?
My name is Kanika Narang and art for me is a way to be expressive. I don’t just see it as something we create, but as who we are, how we carry ourselves, how we live- is all a form of an artistic expression to me. I have been making photographs for a while now and I’m still figuring my way through it and see it as a tool that allows me to understand my self and the world around better.
What are your art interests?
Ever since I was little, I was introduced to music in a way that it became a part of me. Over the years, classical music has been very special to me. It’s my go to, on most days. Photography, is something that started very out of the blue, and over time has turned into this thing that I associate myself with, like a given. It comes very naturally to me and I am very thankful for that.
What are your views about the current scenario of art in our country?
Everybody is an artist in some way or another, we are all creating things, and shaping lives. Whats beautiful is that with each passing day, we are understanding how important it is to express ourselves and are consciously coming forward to do that. Its amazing to see so many people doing what they are here to do, in the most beautiful ways, touching lives and sharing joy through their being.
What are you working on currently?
At the moment, what I am really trying to understand fully and completely, is my own lost pieces. Some that got lost away years ago, some that were shunned, some that have stayed suppressed for many many years now. So I am currently working on feeling everything, deeply and feeling whole again.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
While a lot of it does come from things seen here and there, or the work of great artists or beautiful things that catch the eye, most of it comes from within, like long lost ideas, that have just been inside somewhere, like floating alphabets that need to be stitched together. Over time inspiration has just been to see things as they are, in their rawness and to feel a connection with all that is.
Which kind of artist would you be interested to collaborate with? Musicians and photographers primarily I feel, although this isn’t something I have thought of before, so just from the top off my mind for now.
Whats the first thing you do when you wake up? Make a cup of coffee.
Which is the most used app in your phone? Instagram
Which is the one song you cant get out of your head? Cinder & Smoke and Mann bharya at the moment.
You de-stress by? Listening to music and long long long walks.
