Artist of UNSEEN 2.0 - Pranjali Chauhan | Dancer, Writer, Actor

UNSEEN 2.0 is an unconventional form of exhibition which is a digital art exhibition curated by Platform For Artists . This enables artists across the country to participate, showcase their work and connect with like minded people. The entire idea is to broaden the scope of exposure which the artists would probably not get at an offline event. We have sixty diverse artists from across the country who are a part of this one of it's kind art exhibition.

Here is a set of questions team Platform For Artists asked Pranjali about her everyday routine, her art interests and more.

Tell us about yourself.

I am a 24 year old professional dancer, actor, model, writer who quit her analytics job to pursue her passion after graduating from St. Xavier’s College. I am very passionate and empathetic individual who is very open to new experiences. I have been exploring all kinds of creative fields for the past three years now.

What are your art interests?

Well, I have been dancing since I was very young. I really like to paint and colour abstract pieces. I have recently found myself writing and acting in the theatre space and in front of the big camera. I sing in my own ways and tunes. I do blog once in a while. I have modelled for various brands. I really like going to watch different plays and shows. I often visit art exhibitions that happen in town side.

What are your views about the current scenario of art in our country?

Art is the way we express ourselves. We need more inspiration and collaborations. I think we are growing and evolving as a society. But our society is still not open to a lot of concepts and modern age ideas which can only be changed by time and new experiences. Artists need to be respected and acknowledged for the kind of work process they follow. We have a long way to go and I can only hope for the best!

What are you working on currently?

Well, currently there is a play called “Miss YOUniverse” which is a therapeutic theatre project which has been written by Anupriya M. Banerjee and me. We are working on modifying the script after 3 housefull shows in Mumbai. Also, there is an Afro-Latin international fest happening in Mumbai, so we are rehearsing Latina and Funk pieces for that as we are planning to perform on all 3 nights.

I also need to start choreographing for my upcoming workshop.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

It really depends. Sometimes from my immediate surroundings, sometimes from my own past experiences, sometimes from something that just comes to my mind and from other’s stories and experiences.

Which kind of artists would you be interested to collaborate with?

All KINDS. I don’t think artists should have any boundaries and inhibitions while collaborating with others. And magic can be created with anyone!

What's the first thing you do when you wake up ?

I wake up and make lemonade with honey to start my day on a fresh and a hydrating note.

Which is the most used app in your phone?

Spotify! Since I like discovering new music and listening to it.

Which is the one song you can't get out of your head?

Solo by Demi Lovato

You de-stress by?

By simply breathing in and out and sometimes indulging in tons of chocolate! There are times when I do music and art therapy where I let the brushes go with the flow of music.
