Artist of UNSEEN 2.0 - Sachin Poojary | Painter
UNSEEN 2.0 is an unconventional form of exhibition which is a digital art exhibition curated by Platform For Artists . This enables artists across the country to participate, showcase their work and connect with like minded people. The entire idea is to broaden the scope of exposure which the artists would probably not get at an offline event. We have sixty diverse artists from across the country who are a part of this one of it's kind art exhibition.
Here is a set of questions team Platform For Artists asked Sachin about his everyday routine, his art interests and more.
Tell us about yourself?
Hello! I’m an independent artist currently situated in New Delhi, I’m pursuing M.A in Drawing & Painting at Delhi School of Art. I hail from a small town named ‘Udupi’ in Karnataka. I have been creating art for more than 15 years now. Usually I begin every painting with some kind of thought or idea that is worth thinking about. I believe each one is an ongoing attempt to balance the technical, conceptual & aesthetic combining them with creativity and depth.
What are your art interests?
As an artist, I primarily work in Acrylic, Oil & Charcoal Pencils. My works are mostly portrayed in a realistic fashion. However, recently I have begun to explore more contemporary art forms such as Abstract, Digital Art & Motion Graphics.
What are your views about the current scenario of art in our country?
A country as diverse as India is symbolized by the plurality of its culture.India has one of the world’s largest collections of songs, music, dance, theatre, folk traditions, performing arts & paintings. Though we have rich variations of artistic masterpieces, it is very sad to know on the other hand that these are on the way to expire for want of support and patronage. The economical deficiency has been a major stigma as majority of the artists don’t get enough backing to carry forward their artistic charisma. These people are generally from the rural areas or they are tribal people with little or no education and they don’t know how to showcase their creations. Thus, they don’t earn enough to buy their required equipment for the art. However, on the other hand it is to be noted that India is moving towards its new era. The era of e-commerce, any enthusiast who is passionate about arts and crafts can tie up with these artists and set up an online store or sell those creations through various e-commerce sites and share the revenue. In this way, any aspiring entrepreneur can start their business and can help the artists also on the same side. I,being an Indian, am proud of our artistic creations and cultural diversity and rich heritage, so we should join hands in this mission to save disappearing of these art forms.
What are you working on currently?
I’m currently working on 3 set of series i.e.
· Human Anatomy: A detailed study of human figure by way of figure drawing. An individuality of body expression on various scenarios.
· Rural India: A series of painting reflecting lack of modern facilities in Indian rural areas.
· Shades of Himachal: A series of landscapes inspired from my visits to untouched radars of Himachal Pradesh, India.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
It’s hard to define the root of my inspiration to paint, however most of my artworks represents the place where I come from, perhaps from my early life upbringing & also by my often travel experiences which helps me stay motivated & inspired.
Which kind of artists would you be interested to collaborate with?
I wish myself to be associated with the artists who are well versed from the core Fine Art Industry & define a new era in the field of art. I wish to be a part of interviews/TedTalks, workshops & reading rooms on a national or a global platform. Someday I wish my art to reach global scale & represent India.
What's the first thing you do when you wake up?
I train & workout to lead. Fitness is essential.
Which is the most used app in your phone?
