Personal experiences provide a lot of material for my work.

Artist of UNSEEN 2.0 - Shreya Mishra | Writer

UNSEEN 2.0 is an unconventional form of exhibition which is a digital art exhibition curated by Platform For Artists . This enables artists across the country to participate, showcase their work and connect with like minded people. The entire idea is to broaden the scope of exposure which the artists would probably not get at an offline event. We have sixty diverse artists from across the country who are a part of this one of it's kind art exhibition.

Here is a set of questions team Platform For Artists asked Shreya about her everyday routine, her art interests and more.

Tell us about yourself.

I’m Shreya, an up and coming writer from Indore. I’m a medical doctor, but literature is my passion - fuel for my soul. There is no better feeling for me than to be lost amidst beautifully stitched sentences. I started my artistic journey last year with non fiction pieces, and have recently taken up poetry.

What are your art interests?

Foremost is reading. Ruskin Bond and Oscar Wilde are my absolute favorites. I feel they touch my soul like few other. Also I love gazing at paintings. They provide an intimate peek into the artist’s heart and are a great way to stoke one’s creativity and passion.

What are your views about the current scenario of art in our country?

The art scene in our country is undergoing a steady revolution I feel, and PFA is an important part of it. Thanks to social media so many artists now find it possible to share their creations with others, which is thrilling. A recent thing I’ve noticed is the increasing number of murals that have come to adorn our streets. Which is wonderful, and like someone said it’s time we brought art out of the museums into the everyday.

What are you working on currently?

Right now I’m working on several poems, one of which deals with anxiety – an issue many of us have often had to deal with. Personal experiences provide a lot of material for my work, and thus this topic I’ve chosen to explore.

Where do you get inspiration from?

Nature is my biggest muse, and also the people and places I experience. The writers I read, the artworks I admire all fuel my passion and the desire to create. Looking at their body of work one realizes what hard work coupled with passion can achieve.

What kind of artists would you be interested to collaborate with?

I would like to collaborate with sketch artists, musicians and actually everyone! You never know what you might achieve together, so never say never!

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?

Go in search of a delicious cup of coffee.

Which is the most used app in your phone?

Which is the one song you can’t get out of your head?

I love you baby by Parekh and Singh currently has my feet tapping.

You de-stress by?

Being in the company of nature, curled up with a book is how I like to unwind. And oh, did I mention snuggling up with furry babies!
