Artist of UNSEEN 2.0 - Tamanna Rajabali | Photographer , Graphic Designer and film-maker
UNSEEN 2.0 is an unconventional form of exhibition which is a digital art exhibition curated by Platform For Artists . This enables artists across the country to participate, showcase their work and connect with like minded people. The entire idea is to broaden the scope of exposure which the artists would probably not get at an offline event. We have sixty diverse artists from across the country who are a part of this one of it's kind art exhibition.
Here is a set of questions team Platform For Artists asked Tamanna about her everyday routine, her art interests and more.
Tell us about yourself.
I would like to think I’m a visual artist, an art photographer and student filmmaker. My work usually revolves around making things look and people out of place. What’s art if it doesn’t confuse most people and make you ask questions? I have a keen eye for seeing and creating art around me especially with scraps and old junk.
A fact worth mentioning is that my spirit animal is a cow.
I’m a Film&TV and Design graduate.
What are your art interests?
Art Photography, Film, Graphic design and a handful of Animation
What are your views about the current scenario of art in our country?
It’s growing so fast. There is a great mixture of older Indian art forms with modern Indian life. And I’m glad social media had helped a lot young artists find a platform.
What are you working on currently?
Currently I’m on a graduation high, but I’m working on myself by learning and experiencing other forms of art. So I guess currently I’m on an exploration. I do take on graphic design freelance work from time to time.
And I did make a documentary recently about an incident that took place at a basti in Pune, do check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHhVYfhvdzc&t=3s
Where do you get your inspiration from?
Inspiration can be derived from anything. Observing the world move slowly around me could be one or running into a wall could be another.
(P.S. don’t run into walls with your glasses on; that stuff’s expensive)
Although I think most of my inspiration comes from people around me and things they say to me or the way they look at the world.
Which kind of artists would you be interested to collaborate with?
Artists who understand each other’s work and are able to come up with ideas that have a common emotion and message that they want to send out to the world, should work together. Doesn’t matter what kind of artists they are a filmmaker or a painter.
What's the first thing you do when you wake up?
Oh I mean I’d like to say I go for a run, but I usually sit and stare at the ceiling, avoiding looking at what time it is.
Which is the most used app in your phone?
Probably Instagram; But also color, Picsart, Huji cam and FlipaClip
Which is the one song you can't get out of your head?
Well I can’t say one it’s not fair to the others stuck in my head.
Jaago by Lifafa
Bismillah by Peter Cat Recording co.
Wi ing Wi ing (위잉위잉) by Hyukoh
You de-stress by?
I usually just talk to my dogs; but cooking, taking pictures and a cold bathroom floor also does the trick.
