Artist of UNSEEN 2.0 - Vipul Garg | Illustrator, Doodler, Graphic Designer
UNSEEN 2.0 is an unconventional form of exhibition which is a digital art exhibition curated by Platform For Artists . This enables artists across the country to participate, showcase their work and connect with like minded people. The entire idea is to broaden the scope of exposure which the artists would probably not get at an offline event. We have sixty diverse artists from across the country who are a part of this one of it's kind art exhibition.
Here is a set of questions team Platform For Artists asked Vipul about his everyday routine, his art interests and more.
Tell us about yourself.
I’m Vipul Garg, Co-founder and CMO and Design head of Morph.ai, I’ve been drawing since I was a child. Art has always been an escape from everyday life, be it painting, music or dance, it makes me feel powerful. I mostly practice painting and doodling but also have an interest in music and I’m currently learning Piano. I experiment a lot with different mediums, like pencil, charcoal, watercolor, doodling. Being an entrepreneur is exhausting and takes up all of your energy and art has been a great escape and an outlet for me.
What are your art interests?
Currently I’m painting with watercolors and acrylics and it’s so exciting to use new mediums and experiment with them. I love Charcoal for portraits and Ink pens for doodling. Sometimes I just mix and match with multiple mediums and love exploring new ones. I’m also into Graphic Design and love using digital medium to add a new dimension to my art pieces.
What are your views about the current scenario of art in our country?
It’s definitely getting better. Being from a small town, people around me had a limited understanding of art, it was just a hobby to be shown off to my relatives and friends. As a kid I never realised the true potential of being an artist. Today with the power of communities and exposure of social media, we can turn this around and reach millions of people. We need more creativity in our society, more colors, more love. I’m always on the lookout for ways I can contribute to this change.
What are your working on currently?
I’m working on a series called Painted DREAMS, where I try to draw something out of the dream I saw last night using mixed media. It’s still in the concept stage and you will soon see something out of it in my feed.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
I click a lot of pictures and I’m always on the hunt for ideas, be it in a mall, on a hike, on my commute to office, starry nights or meal time. I love astronomy and I own a telescope, and that has influenced a lot of my art pieces. Whenever I travel, I click pictures and write down notes of random ideas that popup in my mind and somewhere down the line it becomes an art series.
Which kind of artists would you be interested to collaborate with?
I’ve been solo on this creative journey till now and would love to collaborate with artists who are into creative public installations. Artists who create things which make people engage with them and make the on-looker part of the art. Some other artists who would be interesting to collaborate would be Fine-artists, Graffiti artists and Musicians.
What's the first thing you do when you wake up ?
Recently it has been writing down (or doodling) my surreal dreams before I forget them. On most days I wake up and start with a 10 min meditation, this helps me focus and increase my creative energy.
Which is the most used app on your phone?
Instagram obviously, it’s a great source of inspiration and positivity in my creative life. Followed by that is YouTube, I watch a lot of Art, DIY and Tech videos.
Which is the one song you can't get out of your head?
Well it changes often, recently the soundtrack of the epic “Game Of Thrones” has hijacked my brain, hats off to “Ramin Djawadi” for that, but If I have to say overall then it has to be “Song for Zula” by Phosphorescent
You de-stress by?
Some of my go to routines to de-stress are listening to some piano, taking a walk, playing something on my keyboard, doodling and if it’s too much to handle then a session of meditation.
